Bob Burnett Architecture began business in 1999 establising a leading reputation in architectural design with both residential and commercial buildings. The firm is recognised as specialist and innovators in energy efficient eco homes, hill homes and alterations. Since 2000 Bob has been a Professional member of ADNZ (Architectural Designers NZ) garnering numerous ADNZ Design Awards over the years for a diverse range of projects, including renovations and sustainability awards. Bob Burnett is also a Licensed Building Practitioner and a Certified Homestar Practitioner.
Bob has around 25 years experience in total, starting out working in some leading local firms mainly on very large scale, commercial projects. These included Commerical Interior Designer at Design Team, Architectural Designer at Warren & Mahoney and he then went on to Tutor Architectural Technolgy at Christchurch Polytechnic before establishing the firm.
Shizuka Yasui joined the firm in 2000 and provides a Japanese design influence. She is a Japan registered architect level 1 (the highest level). Before coming to live in NZ Shizuka specialized in housing and worked as an Architect in Japan for Panahome, a division of Panasonic, which designs and builds quality modular homes.
Panahome are currently involved in developing a new self sufficient town in northern Japan powered by solar. Bob and Shizuka work together on most projects.

Sustainability and Energy Efficiency have been a long-term interest since long before this became trendy. We have developed many innovative techniques and unique construction methods details to make our buildings as energy efficient as possible. The result is buildings that are healthy, warm and comfortable which have with very low running costs and are enjoyable for the occupants. With new software called ECODESIGNER we can analyze thermal performance and energy efficiency and carbon footprint of design alternatives. As a Certified Homestar Practitioner we can
provide professional advice on potential solutions and decisions to achieve a warm, healthy, sustainable and efficient home. We offer advice to target an appropriate star rating using the Homestar certified manual and software tool.

More recently we have begun sustainable property development of high density zones and compact standalone dwellings on infill sites with a focus on affordability and energy efficiency.

We also have expertise in high quality 3D visualization, which is a great benefit to communicate designs to clients. We provide high end 3D Visualisations for other architects & designers, building companies and property and development companies.
