Sustainable Earthen Plasters

Ideally earthen walls are finished with compatible Sustainable Earthen Plasters on all internal surface, these can be done decoratively to you taste and budget.

A protective coating, but is strongly recommended and a silicate materials hardens the surface, but allows the pores to remain open, keeping the walls breathing.

The interior plaster can be used on existing traditional walls as well, to achieve a decorative finish and eliminate moisture problems, which can lead to mold and Health risks.

NZEB have established a clay based plaster range using Environmental pigments to create a array of colourful finishes, including natural white. Like many other earthen wall the light Earth walls have to be protected from the weather on the outdoor.

This can either be achieved by conventional lime-based 3 layered plasters, or any of the common New Zealand cladding materials, providing a sufficient cavity is left behind it for ventilation.
